Under the deck lid resides a 1600cc '71 dual port powerplant fitted with TRW rings, Engle 120 cam, Engle valve springs and Bosch 010 Distiributor. The healthy engine also features twin 'squirrel cage' electric fans for cooling, a Gene Berg exhaust system, and a pair of Weber 48 IDA's maunted atop Scat manifolds. The engine's 70 horses are transmitted to the 6x15-inch slicks with a 4.86-to-1 ring and pinion, close ratio third and fourth gears, a type 2 clutch, stock flywheel and polished axles.

By using Adjust-A-Drop and low profile 135-15 Michelin ZX radials, Randy has lowered the Beetle's front end markedly.

Inside the 14 second VW sports fiberglass bucket seats, custom roll bar, Autometer tach and VDO oil and cylinder head temperature gauges. The Auto-Haus padded steering wheel and Hurst shifter round out the interior.
